Electronic Voting

If you can, be sure to watch the amazing HBO documentary Hacking Democracy. This is something that everyone should be aware of. I literally got chills several times while watching this, especially since I used to work as a software developer and know just how crappy and vulnerable that code can be!

We are about to have an election day soon as well in The Netherlands - and I am lucky, here in our village we have to vote twice. It seems that a particular brand of voting machines was not accorded - 1200 machines can not be used. Some communities have to use the red pencil again, among them the city of Amsterdam. Pencil and paper might be slow counting, but maybe the safest option.

As we in Berkel have to vote for a new city council as well, I expect two voting machines - one for the local gov election, and one for the government election. Police officers seems to have to patrol more around voting places, to avoid people from picking up radiowaves with the vote that a person makes. So here the question is actual as well :-)
